Super Simple Granola

You need to try the easiest, yummiest granola recipe ever! It’s sweet and simple, and since it’s wholegrain and a complex carb, it makes for a great part of a balanced breakfast or a quick snack. While there are many flavorful pre-made options available, sometimes it’s nice to make your own so that you can have it just the way you like it (and you can make it for cheap!). This is a basic recipe that can be dressed up in many different ways, so all you need to do is change out the spices, dried fruit, or nuts based on your preference. You can even use half of the oil and honey or maple syrup to make it even healthier. If you do use less, remember to keep the ratio of sweetener one to one with the oil. Happy cooking!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup canola oil or some other oil like coconut oil or olive oil

  • 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats

  • 1 cup sliced almonds

  • 1 cup raisins or other dried and chopped fruit

Instructions:

  1. Heat the oven to 300°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Place the oil, honey, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl and whisk to combine.

  3. Add the oats and almonds and stir to coat thoroughly.

  4. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking sheet and spread into an even layer. If the granola is clumpy, use a spatula to press it into the pan.

  5. Bake for 20 minutes, stirring halfway through. The granola is ready when golden-brown and the almonds have toasted—it will still feel wet coming out of the oven but will dry as it cools.

  6. Place the baking sheet on a wire rack and sprinkle on the raisins or fruit. Cool completely before storing.

  7. Transfer the cooled granola to an airtight container for long-term storage at room temperature.

This simple and delicious granola recipe is sure to sweeten up your day! Make it in less than 25 minutes!
